#Babcock wahala: Would student's laptops be searched for #porn

Private Universities have over the years managed to build a reputation of student liberty infringement for themselves. It's so bad that many people have tagged Private universities in Nigeria as "advanced boarding houses" simply because of the strict enforcement of rules.

For crying out loud, these are Universities which inhabit full blown adults either young or old and should not be laden with terrible rules and regulations that violate a student's human rights and liberty.

Just recently, a twitter account (@babcockuni_ng) tweeted that...

#Simi hints at Adekunle Gold being bae

Fast rising Nigerian singer, Simisola Ogunleye who goes popularly by the stage name Simi has in a recent interview opened up on her love life amidst other aspect of her life.
The singer who kicked off her musical career as early as 10 started out as a gospel singer before making a switch to secular music denied bbeing in a relationship with rapper, FalzTheBahdGuy but quickly became defensive when asked about Adekunle Gold.
This might just be the confirmation needed to reign in the relationship rumours surrounding both artistes.
Read excerpts fro m the interview with the voice behind ‘Jamb Question, Tiff’ and some more singles.
What is the idea behind the video of Soldier?
First and foremost, Soldier is Falz’ song, I just featured in it. I think because of the story of the song, he got together with Clarence (Peters) who shot the video and they decided to make it into a short movie. I guess they felt it would bring in more emotions than just a normal music video. They told me about it and I just featured in it, and I thought it was interesting.
Are you thinking of going into movies soon?
I don’t know really but if I must, it won’t be full time.
You wrote the song?
Yes I did. I remember when I did that song I told Falz it wouldn’t come out till my second album. But later, when Falz wanted to do his album, he buzzed me that we should do a song together. I told him that we should do Afrobeats and he said he wanted Soldier. So, after talking back and forth, we decided to it.
Ever since the two of you did that song there have been a lot of behind-the-scene talks and what fueled it more was the both of you gracing the cover of a magazine. What really is the true story?
I guessed many people sensed the chemistry we had making music and then they just assumed automatically that we were into a relationship. Which is not true. I am actually taking my time to answer this question because many people think otherwise. But the truth is that Falz and I are just friends. It was just a shoot and I think because we both did music together at the time. It doesn’t really bother me.
Did you ever rebel as a teenager?
I was really a pretty good girl then and nobody can say I was bad as a teenager. You know, I was the only girl and my mum had to go to work very early, and she comes home late. So, I really had the opportunity to be wayward but I never had any inclination to be.
Your song, JAMB Question, was everywhere; can you share a hilarious experience you had with it some time back?
I can’t remember a JAMB question but I can remember a JAMB statement that I had (Laughs). There was this guy that came, I can’t remember exactly how old I was then, I think I was 15 or 16 and my mum sent me to go and get something. I was going home from the errand and I saw this guy walking by my side. I told him ‘can you stop walking with me, I don’t know you’. The next time he saw me; he gave me a card that says ‘I really love you’. He would say to me, ‘I really have feelings for you’ and then I will reply, ‘happy feelings’. It was really funny and I didn’t really know him. Later, he became friends with my brother because of me and it was really weird. There are many other instances but this is the one that really stuck.
Tell us about your first love?
My first love? I met him when I was 13 and in SS1. I was just about to turn 14 and he just came to my school. How do you really explain that as a child? But it did happen, and he left my school after a while, so we drifted apart. Then we met somewhere again. We drifted apart again and then that was it.
You are in a relationship now?
Yes I am.
Do you think he is the one?
Well, I hope he is the one because I don’t think relationships should just be for leisure. I can’t really speak for anybody but for me. If I am giving you an access to that part of my life then it has to be worth my while and worth his while as well. But I can’t force it though, if he is the one, fine and if not, fine.
There is this rumour about you and Adekunle Gold, how true is it?
(Laughs) I don’t have any comment on that.
Or he is the one?
I don’t even talk about my personal life so I am not saying anything on that one.

#UNIOSUN students stage massive protest after examination hall drama

#UNIOSUN students stage massive protest after examination hall drama

Just as a protest was underway at Adekunle Ajasin University earlier today, another protest was going  on simultaneously in UniOsun but for a totally different cause. Students got really furious about the "no school fees, no examination" policy instigated by the school management.

As early as 7am this morning, the irate crowd which was made up of mainly sophomore and 300 level students; had gathered at the school gate, shutting it against lecturers and workers of the institution.

Indeed many students might be guilty of not paying their school fees for the current semester but students, especially final year students got the shocker yesterday when students who are yet to pay their school fees were chased out of the examination halls.

Be that as it may, we will not tolerate this inhumane act of the school management as it is totally "anti-student" and out-rightly against our welfare.

Check out #MTN's data plan of 7gig for just N2000

Good news guys, MTN is here again with the incredible offer, with just N2,000 you can now get a huge 7GB of data! This new plan was unveiled in TechPlus2016 event.

We all know that the MTN normal 3.5GB cost N2,000, but this new offer double the data and gives you 7GB data for that same N2,000. It is a very nice offer for those who think they value the use of huge data and this plan works for all devices ranging from Android, BB10, iPhone/iPad, Laptops, Blackberry, Windows phone, Symbian/Java phones; you just name it.

To benefit from MTN TechPlus2016 100% deal zone offer of 7GB for N2000;
» Simply load N2000 on your MTN line
» Text 2016 to 131 and you'll receive a message that you have been credited with 7GB on Tech+ 100% Dealzone.
» Text 2 to 131 to check your data balance anytime.
We are now in the weekend, no dulling guys, note that you can even get 9GB with your N2,000.
Presently, MTN is on weekend promo tagged "WowWeekend". This gives you an opportunity to get 100MB when you recharged your MTN sim with N200 and you will get 1GB when you recharged with N500 and above.
Load your MTN sim with the airtime of N2,000 and you will be given free 2GB usable only from Friday to Sunday. You can later use your N2,000 to get 7GB of data, making it the total of 9GB.

Competition always brought out the best, this should be a challenge for other networks, otherwise, they might start losing their gold customers. I'm still waiting for the time that we will be able to buy 1terabytes for N100.

Check out #wizkid's perfect lookalike

We have seen great celebrity lookalikes, but yesterday, when Wizkid’s fans discovered Instagram user Melvin, they assumed the singer was running a second page under a pseudonym. But Melvin turns out to be the most astounding celebrity doppelganger of recent time. He matched the ‘Ojuelegba’ singer’s looks, down to the brows, facial structure – and from the poses he struck in his photos – the physique.

Fans have since been barraging Melvin with hilarious comments, with some advising that he employs a manager.

The resemblance is uncanny!

Here’s what fans think:

Isn’t he the best celebrity lookalike of all time?

Check out this #Bayero University undergraduate who started his IT firm at the age of 16

Mahmud Ali Baba Kusa, a 300-level student of Computer Engineering at the Bayero University, Kano (BUK)in this interview spoke on how he established an Internet Technology (IT) company at the age of 16 and how it is faring.

What motivated you to establish an IT company?
The fact that I was born into a family of businessmen and also living in a business area in Kano, made me to develop interest in business at a very young age. I could remember when we were kids, my brother and I were always engaged in one business or the other. We were always thinking of selling candies, purchasing rice in small quantity because we realized that people bought in small quantities, and small packets of rice were not available in the market.
I also remember that when we were in JSS1, some beautiful watches from China came into the market. I bought one and went to school with it and showed it to my friends. While I was doing that, somebody said he wanted it and I offered to supply it.  I always wanted to be self-reliant; I wanted to own my company so that I could help to reduce the rate of unemployment in our society. In fact I was not having any financial problem when I started; I just wanted to use the skill I had to grow my business for the benefit of people.

How was the company established?
I developed my business plan when I was still in secondary school. I then approached a family friend who is a lawyer to register it with the Corporate Affairs Commission in my final year in secondary school; that was in 2014.  At the initial stage, it started as a web design firm, but later it was expanded to provide services and products like educational software and information technology consultancy. I spent not less than N60, 000 to start off.

How is it faring now?
The company is faring well. I have designed web sites for some schools and companies and currently I’m into talks with some universities and some heads of department at the Bayero University, Kano (BUK). At BUK, I met a friend who also has an IT company but not registered, so we agreed to work together. We go out to source for business. Designing a web site takes us not less than three weeks depending on the complexity of the site and we charge between N150,000 to N250,000. Sometimes I charge less and sometimes I design a web site for fun. But I want people to know that an IT company is a long term investment. It is not something that one can get quick profit from; it has to take some time.

How are you coping, combining business with studies?
I try to balance them, but sometimes it is difficult. IT is something that needs a lot of time and concentration. Even my lecturers ask me how I am coping.

Do you have the support of your parents?
Yes, I do. My parents have been very supportive, although at the beginning they expressed reservations due to my studies. They felt I was spending more time on my computer than my studies. But I am doing my best to balance them.

 Any challenges?
The first challenge I had was when I wanted to register the company with the Corporate Affairs Commission. I had to sign and they said I was too young to be the main signatory. Also when I wanted to open a corporate bank account for the company, I had some problems because of my age.
Another challenge I have is that people find it difficult to accept me as the Chief Executive Officer of the company. Most times, I present myself as an engineer, especially when I want to bid for a business in a big organisation. Sometimes we are not given jobs because many organisations prefer to deal with foreigners.

What is your plan for the future?
I want my company to be one of the best internet technology companies in the world. My calculation is that by 2026, technology companies will lead the economy of Nigeria. We wish to play a key role in it, God willing.
Do you have any advice for youths?
I want youths to know that nothing good comes easy. They aspire to be like some billionaires but do not want to start somewhere, that is wrong. Sometimes my friends ask me where I would want to work after completing my studies and I tell them that I don’t want to work in big places like the NNPC and the others like they are aspiring. I tell them that I want to work in a technology company where I can make the best use of my knowledge.
